ADVANCED PRAISE FOR SOCK SLUT

"Rather than knock your socks off, this collection invites you to slide something silky on to enjoy how it feels. Equal parts sensual, sexual, intimate, and empowering, Kristin Garth has a sock obsession as enviously varied and marvelously unique as her words. Two socks up :)"

“Kristin Garth's Sock Slut is a romp and a riot. As a rape survivor, I take joy and pleasure in these reclamations of sexual play and fun, as well as the darker impulses she celebrates, the fucked-up disaster of our traumas we can walk right through. I heard once that disaster means exploding star, and maybe not exactly, but I've claimed that etymology for myself. These poems rejoice in a girl walking through the elements and dust and fire of hell and coming out unscathed or beautifully-scathed, whatever way you care to frame it. But I love all of the poems' flirtations and fixations. As Sontag says in her seminal (haha get it?) piece "Notes on Camp" though this "sensibility...among other things, converts the serious into the frivolous -- these are grave matters." Also everywhere I see socks now I think of Garth and her poems. Sock Slut is a blast.”

"Kristin Garth’s Sock Slut is a ferociously sexy, empowered collection of vibrant sonnets. Garth’s poetic voice entices the reader to explore experiences trapped between the slick threads of a silky thigh-high. Scintillating words breathlessly engage in celebratory desire as Garth weaves a narrative of innocence intofearlessness, submission into mastery. Sock Slut is the heart-racing thrill of playing footsie with your crush, blushing at the truth, the pleasure hiding in form and restraint. Coy images of supple legs delicately clad in a variety of socks and stockingscompliment the text and welcome the erotic curiosity ofpersonal desire. As reader, we are encouraged to find our ownauthentic selves, inspired by the layers of stunning language Garth bends to her poetic will. Garth’s reclamation of sexuality reads like a sweeping declaration of love, an invitation to find strength and power in pleasure. Kristin Garth’s mesmerizinghonesty and multi-faceted perspective is exemplified in the exquisite beauty and anguish that is the poetic journey of the Sock Slut."
